The Land Development Corporation operates under the Land Development Corporation Act (as in force at 1st July 2009) through an Advisory Board and reports to the Minister for Lands, Planning and the Environment.

In accordance with the Act there are three private sector members on the Advisory Board.

John Coleman was appointed Chief Executive of the Department and the Corporation in April 2013.
